The Hudsucker Proxy is a magnificent failure. It failed in that its legacy is not that of being the movie that propelled Joel & Ethan Coen into the mainstream, reintroducing the genre of the early 20th century screwball comedy to the screen.
Hello Jackson (from another Jackson!) Your yearlong tribute to Hudsucker is awesome and STAGGERING. Kudos!! I'm a producer with a film show called MUBI Podcast, and we happen to be doing an episode this fall all about Hudsucker for its 30th anniversary. We've talked to a few people in/around the film (including legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins) and we hoped you be able to join us to give a (super)fan's perspective on why this film deserves watching / revisiting. It'd be a quick, fun, audio-only chat. Maybe 30 mins or so. I'd love to talk more about this! Thanks a ton for considering this left-field idea, ~Jackson Musker (jmusker@mubi.com)
