1. Watching the main cast of Starship Troopers, I get the idea that Dina Meyer was the only one who really knew what was going on, and dived in headfirst.
2. Thought for a moment with would be about The Black Book/The Reign of Terror. The French Revolution as a gangster movie.
3. Are you saving Soldier of Orange for a separate treatment?
1. I'd contend that NPH also knew what he was doing but fully agreed that Casper Van Dien and Denise Richards did not.
2. I would watch a Paul Verhoeven French Revolution movie so hard. Like "this is only playing at a limited engagement in New York so I'm flying to New York to see it" so hard.
3. Have not actually seen any of Verhoeven's pre-Hollywood movies but I keep meaning to. This year's writing project is reserved for the cinema of 2007 though (which I know Black Book technically first came out in 2006 but it had an American release in 2007 so it counts damn it) so I won't be writing about it unless someone pays me to.
Actually "The Black Book" was directed by Anthony Mann and filmed by John Alton --the Prince of Darkness. You might make that trip just to see Charles McGraw dressed as a hussar.
