The United States of America is a large nation. It contains multitudes in natural geography, biomes, political beliefs, and cultural institutions. It is inherently a cosmopolitan and multicultural society, being a land comprised of a majority of immigrants and their descendants, and yet even among those recent immigrants the US finds a way to put its stamp on their cultural institutions, turning them American. This is how we can have so many things that are incredibly US specific. The NY style pizza, the cheeseburger, General Tso’s Chicken, the Mission burrito, the cookout, the barbecue, the debates over what constitutes a cookout vs.
